Original era manufacture. A great example of a mailed-home signed Japanese flag. The flag is of all cotton construction with a sewn center. It measures 27x40 inches with numerous hand applied kanji. The flag shows a few small holes and staining from age and service use. Heavy brown paper mailing envelope with original canceled stamps and showing it mailed home by a soldier serving with the HQ Company, 640th Tank Destroyer Btln. The campaign credits for the 640th TD were the Bismarck Archipelago, Eastern Mandates, Luzon and Philippine Islands.
