Original era manufacture. A nice trench art grouping made from two types of Japanese shell casings, and two US .50 caliber casings and projectile made into Salt & Pepper Shakers.The .50 caliber rounds have had the lead removed, and have been neatly drilled to allow the salt or pepper to easily pass through the openings. To fill them, you unscrew the casing from the threaded Japanese shell casing base, and voila! you're in business.The ashtray shows cigarette ash staining, and has a threaded center where some type of decoration was once mounted.The bottoms of the Japanese casings are very well marked, with two measuring 50 mm across, and the larger base measuring about 90 mm across. Pleasing brass patina finish, normal age and wear.
