Original period manufacture. Straight guard, rounded birdhead pommel, contoured wood grips and a blue finished blade. The very clean blade displays a mix of blue and steel patina finish, co corrosion staining or pitting. Clear makers logo on the ricasso of the letter K within a star. Most of the blue and steel finish remains on the dent-free steel scabbard; solid, dark oiled leather frog in sound condition. Attached to the brass securing buckle, is a short length of string which secures a small section of polished bone. This is small enough to slip through the muzzle ring on the guard, thus securing the bayonet in the scabbard. We have owned other Japanese bayonets in the past with this feature. Certainly uncommon.
