Original era manufacture. Having a rarity rating of 6 in Ray Labarr's excellent reference book, "Bayonets of Japan", page 182.Blue finished blade without fullers, rectangular guard, with contoured wood grips and a square pommel. Dark patina finish to the metal fittings, without corrosion issues. The grips are secured with two steel rivets, and the surface displays typical denting and marring from service use, with a small chip in the right side grip Late war wooden scabbard, bound with twine, with an olive green paint finish. Minor surface and finish loss to the scabbard.Wide pattern rubberized canvas frog, which has stiffened from age, and missing the securing strap and closure buckle. The frog is sound, but the belt loops have been pressed together from age and will no longer fit a belt.  A scarce bayonet, in sound condition displaying typical age and wear.
