Original period manufacture. Hooked guard, flat bird-head pommel, contour grips with a blue finish blade surface. Mix of blue and steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, operable lock button. Original finish wood grips, showing minor denting to the surface. The blade displays a factory sharpening on the edge, with a few small nicks. The steel scabbard was re-painted OD and fitted with a US GI-type canvas frog & 1910 belt hook during the Korean War. White painted 6 on the reverse of the scabbard. In all other respects this is a WWII Japanese bayonet, however the 1950's era modification is a turn-off for some collectors, in my view, like the Norwegian re-issue German helmets postwar, this modification is just another chapter in the story of this well-known bayonet.
