Original period manufacture. Early production bayonet, with a bright steel finished blade, hooked guard, bird head pommel and contoured wooden grips. The blade is very clean with clear markings and a touch of corrosion staining at the point. Surface corrosion and steel patina finish to the guard and pommel. Dark, uncleaned wooden grips with typical marring and denting to the surface. Mix of blue and surface corrosion steel patina finish on the scabbard, very minimal denting, more felt than seen. The pommel lock button is frozen, needs to be worked with some penetrating oil to loosen up. A decent bayonet overall.
