Original era manufacture. Hooked guard, flat birdhead pommel, contoured wood grips, and a bright finished blade, black painted scabbard (Navy?)The blade is clean, with scattered staining from age and use, but no real issues. Steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, with remnants of white painted kanji on the top of the blade tang and grip plates. Original finish wood grips with typical marring and bumping from service use. Steel scabbard with an old black paint finish, which may indicate Navy use. It has a smooth surface with one or two very small dents.
