Original period manufacture. Straight guard, contoured wood grips with a blue finished blade, and a bird head pommel.The blade is quite clean, with lots of original blue finish remaining, little bit of oil staining, and factory cutting edge.Mix of blue and dark steel patina to the guard, with dark steel surface corrosion on the pommel. The lock button works as it should.The wooden grips have been replaced, neatly cut-out wooden grip panels which have been simply glued in place. Perhaps a field repair, as it seems to be a lot of trouble for something that was once regarded as an old "Jap" bayonet.Typical denting to the scabbard body, with considerable corrosion pitting near the scabbard throat.
