Original period manufacture. A complete example showing a painted aluminum grip with steel pommel loops, black painted oval tsuba and an olive brown painted scabbard. Matching serial numbers of 101688 can be seen on the blade ricasso and top of the scabbard throat. The blade is quite clean with just a few very shallow nicks in the cutting edge, more felt than seen, with the tip remaining quite sharp. The scabbard is free of dents and retains about 80% of its original painted finish with a splotch or two of gray garage paint near the drag. Accompanying this sword is a removable field cover secured by three brown painted snaps. I can't decide if it is leather or vinyl but am inclined towards the latter. Not sure of the vintage of the cover but it is well made and fits the scabbard well if you choose to display it.
