Original period manufacture. A sound, original sword, recently purchased by a friend of ours at a local estate sale here in town. Brown painted aluminum grip, with a copper collar marked to what is believed to be the Kaneshiro Sakugan Ki company, a maker of rock drills and type 30 bayonets. Pierced brass tsuba, with a lock mechanism on the top of the grip. Matching numbers 36700 seen on the scabbard throat and blade ricasso. The blade is clean, shows some scattered light scrape marks on its surface, with a light sharpening and a few shallow nicks in the cutting edge. It is missing it's pommel loop and the small domed nut which the grip bolt screws into. About 80 plus per cent of the original scabbard paint remains.
