Original period manufacture. Aluminum grip with traces of the original paint finish remaining in the recesses, with a copper washed collar, marked to what is believed to be the Kaneshiro Sakugan Ki company, a maker of rock drills and type 30 bayonets, with a Kokura proof next to it. Pierced brass tsuba, with a lock mechanism on the top of the grip. The blade is clean, shows some scattered light scrape marks on its surface, with a light sharpening and a few very shallow nicks in the cutting edge. Serial number 37571 stamped below the spine.Dent free steel scabbard with a postwar repainted finish, serial number 37571 stamped into the top of the scabbard throat.
