Original era manufacture. A most unusual edged weapon, in form of a German pattern dress, or walking out Faschinenmesser.Polished steel blade measuring 21 inches in length, with etched panels on each side running nearly the entire length of the blade. The crowned double headed Royal eagle of Serbia can be seen along with a number of year dates, and what appear to be battle honors, or perhaps individual names. Cast brass grip and guard which is ribbed on one side, smooth on the other. The blade is clean, showing some minor spots of surface staining and corrosion with wear to the etching. I would think this would be a fairly scarce edged weapon. We found an old brass mounted, leather bodied scabbard in our spares. It fits the blade very well, and we will toss it in with the deal.
