Item #69810 : Original era manufacture. Introduced in 1880, with the first 1000 having iron guards and ferrules. The second series began in 1883 this time with a brass guard and ferrule, around 9,000 were produced. Turned oak grip, SPRINGFIELD and serial number 4220 on the ferrule. The 8.5 inch polished steel blade is in very clean condition, unsharpened, just a few scattered age spots on the surface. Black leather bodied scabbard made at Rock Island Arsenal. A very clean example of its type.
