Item #42489 : Original period manufacture. A very well made boxing medal of silver and gold. Awarded as 2nd Prize in theLight Weight division, December 19th, 1889 in New York.The silver planchet measures 45 mm across, with an ornate winged connector, and red-white-blue original silk ribbon. The suspension bar at top proclaims it to be 2nd Prize and above, a small gold arc states CHAMPION.The ribbon shows wear and age, however the colors are vibrant, with a pleasing silver patina to the metal portions.
