US USMC Expeditionary Medal, Crimp Brooch
Item #42861 : Original era manufacture. Established in 1919 as a ribbon, with a full size medal authorized in 1921, and is still awarded today. While doing some background research on this medal, I discovered that one of the incidents which qualified a Marine for this award, was the assistance our Marines provided the Royal Navy in securing the city of Alexandria Egypt in 1882. This was during the Urabi Uprising and subsequent rioting in the city after the bombardment of the harbor forts, July 13th 1882. This was of great interest to me as I collect British campaign medals from the Egypt-Sudan campaigns of that era. This is a post WWII production medal with a crimp brooch suspension. Normal age and wear.Stock photo, minor details will vary
