Original period manufacture. Mexican marked, 1912 dated receiver of what I believe to be the M1910 Mauser Carbine, made for the Republic of Mexico. The weapon has been purposefully destroyed, likely by bashing it against a rock or tree and then discarded. The trigger guard and trigger have been flattened, the top of the rear receiver has been flattened, the bolt mechanism removed and discarded, with the rear stock completely missing. The barrel has been plugged by Mother Nature, yet the Mexican markings remain visible. No doubt this has an interesting story to tell if only it could, as the gentleman whose collection this once belonged, was a longtime student of the 1916 Border incident here in the Southwest, and Dale was known for researching and visiting those sites here in Arizona.
