German, Prussian M1809 Potsdam Musket & Bayonet, Mfg. 1832
Item #69576 : Original period manufacture. Rugged .72 caliber smooth bore musket which was adopted for use by the Prussian Army in 1809. Originally flint, it was converted to percussion in the 1830's. The lock operates as it should, holds at half cock, the cone, or nipple, is in sound condition. The breech shows considerable corrosion from firing, with the remaining steel furniture in clean condition. Brass bands and buttplate which is unit marked 9.L.W.R. 1.C.32 (9th Landwehr Rgt, 1st Company, 32nd weapon). Both sling swivels are in place and secure a good quality replica brown leather sling. Full length flared head steel ramrod, the screw threads are missing from the bottom end. All band securing springs are present, overall the musket is sound, the stock shows evidence of an old cleaning. With the musket at the time of our purchase is the proper bayonet for this weapon, and the really good news is that it fits properly! The fit of barrel to bayonet socket with these old warriors, is a very hit or miss situation I have found. According to online sources about 165,000 were imported during our Civil War. US SALES ONLY, make sure that your local state or municipality will allow you to own this near 200 year old smoke pole.
