Item #69677 : Original period manufacture. Brown leather Civil War sling which was modified postwar by having a length of another sling spliced in place, allowing the now longer sling to fit the newly adopted 1873 Springfield Rifle. The leather is pliable for its age, the loop at one end is intact, and the brass adjusting hook is in place on the other end. The leather adjusting slide is also present but looks to be a different shade of brown.
