Original era manufacture. Portuguese M1886 bayonet made by Steyer for the Kropatschek rifle.Polished steel blade measuring 18.5 inches in length, clean, no issues beyond some light staining, Styer 1886 marked on the spine.Steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, which could be improved with a light bath, original finish wood grips displaying normal age and wear. Dark steel corrosion finish patina to the dent free scabbard. Again, this would clean-up some with an intelligent cleaning. For those of us who remember the old Shotgun News back page ads from the mid-70's, these were advertised by I believe Century Arms, as the "Rare & Mysterious Kropatschek Rifle & Bayonet"...price for the pair, $10. Those were the days!
