Original era manufacture. A delightful 100 year old toy, likely German in manufacture, depicting an American or British artillery piece and horse drawn limber with driver and rider. The soldiers and horses are of composition construction often referred to as "sawdust and glue" with wire internal frames. The figures are hand painted showing honest age and wear from playtime. The tinplate cannon retains nearly all of it's original paint finish, and has a spring-loaded pull at the breech which allows a projectile to be fired. At the end of the cannon's trail is a small loop which fits over a hook on back of the limber. The tinplate limber is in equally sound condition and hidden away under the drivers seat are 8 original artillery shells for the cannon. With everything connected, the rig measures 17 inches in length, with just under 6 inches from bottom of the wheels to the top of the rider's helmet. No markings as to maker's name.
