Original era photography. Commercially produced image of a sylvan glen, but if you look closely, a passenger ship identified as the Cunard liner, RMS Lusitania can be seen at center. In May of 1915 the Lusitania was torpedoed by a German submarine off the coast of Ireland, resulting in a large loss of life amongst her passengers and crew, including 128 Americans. This incident was an important reason in turning US public opinion against Imperial Germany, which resulted in America's entry into WWI in April 1917. The frame measures 8x10, no glass damage, with its original paper backing and framers tag intact.
