Item #62571 : Original period manufacture. Double sided leaflets which were distributed in recently liberated areas of New Guinea during WWII. These were produced to encourage the Police-Boys (Polisboi) to return to work to help restore order. These are sold as a set of two, one features a yellow bird, and the other a red lizard. On the opposite side is a military hat and a message in Pidgen English. The message reads as follows, "Lukim Numba" (look at the number), "Taim Japan I Kumap" (at the time Japan came), "Plenti Polisboi I koait Long Kanaka" (many police boys went into the bush. "Gut Pela Pasin" (good fella person to do this). "Nau Guvman Sigaut Im Ol Kam Putim Numba Gen". (now the government wants them all to come and put his number (badge) on again). "Yu Kam Painim Mipela I Nogat Trobel" (you can find me, I won't make trouble for you). "Guvman I Tok", (the government is part of your family).
