Original period manufacture. A fine example of a military musket which served the soldiers of the Prussian King's prior to the adoption of the bolt-action needle gun in 1841.Overall length 56.5 inches, barrel length 41.25 inches, with a muzzle opening diameter of 19 mm. The hammer holds solidly at halfcock, and the nipple is not squashed flat. Brass furniture and trigger guard, with a steel buttplate. There is a 1833 date on the breech with Prussian crown proofs, and other numeric markings. The barrel finish is bright, the stock appears to have had an old re-varnish, but very sound for its age, the ramrod is present, and the top of the buttplate has very clear unit markings LEIB.R. 2C 250 (Lifeguard Rgt 2nd Company, 250th weapon). The barrel tang screw is brass so may be an old replacement. From our own collection. US Sales Only
