Original era manufacture. Massive all steel construction sword with a 32 inch polished steel curved blade which draws easily from the scabbard. The blade is very clean with evidence of an old sharpening to the cutting edge. Simple leather covered ribbed wooden grip with an intact covering. Steel patina scabbard with one of two carrying rings, the second one is missing. Typical amount of surface denting and very light surface corrosion to the scabbard and guard. The scabbard throat is present but the two small securing screws are missing. Visible on the guard are the following unit markings, R. P. III. 1.3. with an issue number of 791S. On the scabbard throat the same markings can be seen (in addition to several marked out stampings) and on the suspension ring support 791S.
