Original period manufacture. First year production piece dated 1849 on the obverse and S&K on the reverse of the ricasso. The blade surface is quite smooth, no nicks to the cutting edge and a slight bevel to the tip. The blade shows considerable staining, in fact when we purchased it the blade was covered in a thick black grease. The folks who we purchased it from found it in the attic of an old house in Pennsylvania. Deep, dark brass patina to the guard and grip. Sound and intact black leather scabbard with tight stitching and a matching brass patina to the throat and tip.
