Original era manufacture. A high quality bronze table medal measuring 70 mm, celebrating the launching of the Cunard Liner, RMS Lusitania, launched in 1906. The obverse depicts the ship at sea, and the reverse gives details about her launching, displacement and passenger capacity. Numbered 22, evidently part of a series of famous ships of history. RMS Lusitania was sunk by a German U-Boot off of the coast of Ireland on the 7th of May 1915, resulting in the deaths of nearly 1200 passengers and crew. Her sinking resulted in a storm of international outrage and ill feeling towards the German cause in WWI.
