Original period manufacture. The only information I could find on this medal was courtesy of EBAY. A vendor there has a similar medal listed, being described as "Communist Border Service, RPR Type DE Straja Patriei" Certainly a well made medal with nice enameling on the obverse. Soviet style ribbon with a brass backing plate.
