Original era manufacture. Cork bodied helmet with a dark blue wool covering, the crown of which is divided into four equal parts by thin gold wire trim. Star burst emblem on the front as shown, with a fluted spike on a floral decorated base at top. On the sides of the helmet are two lion head brass bosses with hooks for the chinstrap which is missing. The interior of the helmet is lined in tan cloth, with a green wool covering to the undersides of the visors. Simple leather sweatband. The overall condition is fair, the body has denting and cracking to the cork which you can feel through the wool covering, the edge binding is nearly all gone at this point, and the sweatband displays moisture damage and cracking. The helmet has been stuffed with newspaper dated 1991 to help keep its shape. On the plus side there is no moth damage to the wool. Many thanks to Michael T. for pointing us to the proper identification.
