Original era manufacture. A very clean example of what appears to be a Russian Artillery short sword of the Crimean War Era.The polished steel blade measures 19 inches in length, in very clean condition, with no corrosion issues. The spine has a sawback edge which begins 10 mm forward of the guard, and extends 24 centimeters down the length, where the blade begins a slight swell towards the point. There are several Cyrillic letters stamped into the ricasso, no other markings are visible on the blade. One piece, cast steel grip, with a date of 1834 stamped into the guard.Very sound, wood bodied scabbard, which is covered with a thin covering of black painted cloth, or canvas. The seam stitching is tight, and both attaching staples are secure, on the brass throat and chape.
