Original era manufacture. Brass cartridge casing marked with Kanji on the side, Port Arthur, Hill 203. Hill 203 was the keystone Russian defensive position during the Siege of Port Arthur during the Russo-Japanese War. It was captured and held by suicidal attacks by Japanese Infantry in November of 1904. The neck opening is about 8mm, no headstamp markings so we can't say for sure whether this a Japanese or Russian casing.
