Original era manufacture. Massive, documented grouping of Colonel Leonid Ivanovich Zavgorodny, Military Commissar, 39th Independant Mechanized Battalion of Railroad Construction. The grouping consists of 18 Orders and Medals which are either individually researched, or have the accompanying named document, save for one late issue Red Star. Colonel Zavgorodny's Order Book (with photo), listing the serial numbers for his orders is also present. The numbered awards are as follows: Order of the Patriotic War Second Class 548432, Red Star 147322, Red Star 3254856, 1985 Patriotic War Second Class 3881387. This is the second time we have owned this grouping, the first time we purchased it for ourselves in the late 90's and had the research done by our friend Igor Moiseyev of Atlantic Crossroads. The documentation includes the citation for his 1st Patriotic War Second Class and his 6 digit serial numbered Red Star in addition to his complete Red Army Service Record. There is no enamel damage to report and Stalingrad & Victory Over Germany medals have brass ribbon backing plates. An outstanding researched set of a quality seldom offered today.
