Item #69884 : Original period manufacture. Polished steel blade measuring 31.5 inches in length, runs straight and true, no nicks in the cutting edge, a very clean blade overall. Original leather bumper at the base of the blade, stamped into the underside of the guard can be seen the following, two eagle waffenamt codes 118, the letters AC/G, which indicated Alexander Coppel/1935. Black plastic wrapped grip bound with a single twisted wire binding. Mellow brass patina to the guard, backstrap and pommel. Very clean blue steel scabbard with a single suspension loop, retaining the throat guide and securing screw. Stamped into the reverse side of the throat are the letters AC/G, along with another 118 eagle proof and one more on the drag. Of note, the serial number 4044, which appeared on both the guard and scabbard throat has been purposefully struck over. Who knows the reason, but you can see that the numbers match with some ocular scrutiny.
