Item #69883 : Original period manufacture. A well used but very honest example of the 1860 model US Cavalry enlisted sword. Ames manufacture, 1862 date with the inspector initials of L.L. on the ricasso. The polished steel blade measures 34.5 inches in length, runs straight and true, no nicks in the edge, evidence of a light, period era edge sharpening, and old cleaned pitted surface corrosion at the point. Mellow brass patina finish to the three branch guard which retains it's proper configuration. Original black leather covering over the wood grip body, some areas of wood exposure below the pommel cap. Bound with a single strand of triple brass wire. The service dented darkened steel scabbard retains its throat and both suspension rings, showing definite wear to the drag during the sword's service life. The sword is tight, no rattles and inserts and draws from the scabbard easily.
