Item #69699 : Original period manufacture. Polished steel, etched blade measuring 30.5 inches in length, running straight and true. The blade is very clean, no issues to report beyond a slight bend to the point with some discoloration. Original leather bumper at the base of the blade, Ames name on the obverse ricasso. Most of the original gilding remains on the basket guard, fish skin wrapped grip bound with single strand twisted brass wire. The scabbard is missing the lower portion as shown, with most of the original gilding remaining on the metal portions, Ames name on the reverse of the scabbard throat. Overall a very nice sword, too bad about the scabbard tip.
