US WWI Era Army 1902 Officers Sword, Presentation Grade, Eagle Head Pommel, Henry V. Allien N.Y.
Item #69618 : Original period manufacture. A gorgeous example of the US Model 1902 Army Officers Sword, produced in Germany, and imported by the firm of Henry V. Allien, a company who had a great deal of influence of the original design of this pattern sword. The polished steel blade measures 32 inches in length, running straight and true. Along both sides of the blade can be seen gilt plating to all of the etching on both sides of the blade. Ornate silver washed three branch guard, with heavy feathered decoration on all of the surfaces, including the decorative eagle head pommel displaying ruby glass eyes. Dent free highly polished alloy scabbard, with two ornate decoration panels for the suspension ring supports. The matching design ornate drag measures a full 7 inches in length. I cannot say for sure what the black grip is made from, perhaps porcelain, with a very high gloss finish. Condition wise, the sword exhibits very minimal wear, more of a gentle age toning if anything. Simply a stunning example of a high quality sword from a prestigious New York firm who closed their doors in 1948.
