Item #69004 : Original period manufacture. Officers quality, private purchase waffenrock representing a Gefreiter of the Royal Bavarian 2nd Jager Battalion. One of the elite light infantry units of the imperial army. Dark blue doeskin wool coat with jager green wool cuffs and collar, with matching piping. Full complement of 8 tombak buttons down the front, with an additional two on each cuff and six on the tail. Green shoulder straps with a golden yellow 2, each secured with a tombak button displaying the number 3, the company number. On each side of the collar gilded Bavarian button indicating the soldiers rank of Gefreiter. Full black cotton body lining with striped sleeve lining, Aschaffenburg tailors label in the collar, this was the garrison town for the 2nd Jager Battalion. I counted 4 pencil-point moth bites and 1 slightly larger one, with an additional few bits of cloth abrasion attributable to those winged devils. In spite of those small issues the coat is really stunning in its presentation. Size about a 36.
