Original era photography. 1/6 plate Daguerreotype in full patriotic case. Original seals and tinted. The covers display and eagle and shield decoration on each side. Behind the image is an original hand written note stating this is George Palmer Cook, Frances Zarack Cook, Grand Uncle of Clarence Mae Murray and Grandmother of C.M. and first wife of Edwin Northrup. A very clear and charming image of two beautiful children. After a quick peek on Ancestry, I find that the pair were the children of George and Lois Cook of Washington County New York. George was born in 1840, passing in 1913, while his older sister Zenna Cook, being born in 1835 and passing in 1885. George is quite possibly a veteran of Company E, 169th New York Infantry, 1862-1865.
