Original era photography. 1850s tinted Ambrotype. 1/6th plate in a full case which has come apart at the binding.  The image is of a prosperous looking young boy holding a book. His cheeks are tinted. Leather covered wooden case with gilt decoration. The thin leather binding cover is torn.
