Original period manufacture. This is a really wonderful old firearm, halfstock percussion rifle in about .50 caliber. The overall measurement is just under 4 feet, with the stock displaying some very nice quality nickel-silver inlays, to include a functional patch-box. The heavy octagon barrel displays a mix of original blue and steel patina finish, with scattered areas of spotting from old surface corrosion, no deep pitting anywhere on the barrel. Just above the bolster can be seen some floral engraving on the top of the barrel, with three bands of silver decoration on each side of the percussion cone. Similar engraving can be also see on the hammer and lockplate. All of the stock furniture is of nickel-silver, to include the ornate trigger guard, patch box, curved butt plate, forward end cap, and assorted decorations including a running Buck. I have removed the barrel from the stock to search for a makers name, none were visible. I did discover that the barrel bolster can be removed by hand making it an easy thing to look down the barrel to view the  nice rifling remaining inside. The stock wrist is not cracked or repaired, showing a very nice old job of checkering to the surface. Aside from typical age and wear associated with a 150 plus year old rifle, the only detraction would be a thin crack in the top edge of the stock running forward from the lock to the back of the end cap. I would not recommend firing this weapon, but can say that the mechanics work as they should, the set triggers function properly. This would be a great thing hung over your electric fireplace :-).
