Original period manufacture. Bronze colored 33 mm medallion struck to honor those killed during the explosion a the Allegheny Arsenal near Pittsburgh Pa in September of 1862. 78 workers, most young women were killed in the blast with over 50 of the bodies buried in a mass grave as the remains were unidentifiable.
