Original era photography. This very clear, original tintype image measures 2.5x3.5 inches. It displays a young man wearing a military styledouble breasted frock coat with fringed epauletteson each shoulder. In his hand he holds atriple valve trumpet, and placed upon an ottoman next to him, sits a regulation US Model 1872mounted helmet.This man may indeed be a member of a US Army regimental band of the era. The image is exceedingly clear with excellent detail visible. This pattern helmet is identifiable by its cruciform spike base and unique pattern helmet plate, and is complete with it's appropriate cords and waffles.
