Original era manufacture. Introduced in 1879 and first issued in 1881 to award those soldiers excelling in marksmanship. This pair is the second pattern with elongated bullseyes. This pattern continued to be awarded by national guard units after the regular army ceased awarding them in 1897. Near new, in their original box of issue.
