Original era manufacture. Smaller size haversack issued prior to 1898 when the larger haversacks were made regulation. Dark tan canvas construction, Rock Island Arsenal marked inside, two brass D-ring suspension loops on the reverse.Clear U.S. stencil on the flap, and above, in less bold ink, N.M. N.G.C., on the inside, 2nd Div.Light age and wear.
