Original era manufacture. Ornate, European inspired fur busby as worn by members of the elite Squadron A, New York Hussars,in the years prior to the Spanish American War.Fur covered body with a cavalry yellow wool kolpak, wire embroidered A Troop insignia and two brass chain linked chinstraps. Black leather German-style liner with a black cloth covered interior. Attached to the front of the busby is a removable parade bush.The top of the wool kolpak displays considerable mothing as shown, however the remainder of this impressive piece of headgear displays very nicely. Comes with an original brown cardboard storage box. There is considerable information online regarding the New York Hussars.
