Original era manufacture. A large pattern powder horn measuring 16 inches stem to stern. Hand fitted wooden plug at one end with a brass finial, the pointed end has been nicely carved with two concentric rings, and tapering to a nicely formed spout. Nice vintage patina, with no issues. During the Battle of Gettysburg, local resident John Burns, a War of 1812 veteran, fought with the Union troops on July 1st 1863. He left his home in Gettysburg armed with his flintlock musket and powder horn, to do battle with Lee's Army of Northern Virginia.
