Original era manufacture. Tan woven double loop cartridge belt by MILLS designed to carry 100 30-40 Krag rounds. An attempt by the War Department to address a chronic complaint by the troops then serving in the Philippines of the constant loss of rounds from the looped belts then in service. A solution proposed by Anson Mills was the isntallation of leather covers over 5 double loops to prevent their loss. 1000 belts were produced but were rejected, with the remainder sold as surplus to Bannerman's. This is as sound an example as one is likely to find, shows storage wear only.
