Original period manufacture. Dark blue wool tunic with black mohair trim around the collar and front. Captain of Engineer shoulder straps, with what look to be silver US & Engineer metal collar insignia. One of the inside pockets has a 1908 dated tailor's label from Hatfield & Sons, NY. It is named to one, J.H.Poole. After a bit of online research we found John Hudson Poole as a graduate of the USMA, class of 1901. He was a career army officer serving in the Philippines and during WWI. The coat is of excellent quality with no moth issues. Excellent candidate for further research. The kepi is not included in the price, old baldy's head shines too much...
