Original period manufacture. Golden brown cotton embroidery on a large olive wool oval. See figure 260, page 240, "US Army Soldiers and their Chevrons" by LTC Emerson. Each of the 7 Engineer Corps Regiments were authorized two NCO's of this rank, in 1917 four men authorized to wear it.
