Original period manufacture. A very well made chevron, golden cotton embroidery on olive cotton material, with an individually applied wool felt castle, decorated with contrasting color cotton detailing. See figure 260, page 240, "US Army Soldiers and their Chevrons" by LTC Emerson. Each of the 7 Engineer Corps Regiments were authorized two NCO's of this rank, in 1917 four men authorized to wear it.
