Original era manufacture. Fine quality olive wool campaign hat by the famous firm of John B. Stetson, size about a 6 3/4. The hat is complete as found, and appears to have been in this level of completeness for a long time. The wide leather sweatband is securely sewn to the body of the hat, with the J.B.Stetson logo in gilt lettering on one side. An original and complete, leather chinstrap secures the General officer grade gold wire cap cord to the hat. On the front of the hat is a hexagon shaped, screwback, enameled DUI, which I believe represents the Michigan National Guard. The DUI has been in place for a long time as a verdigris build up on the surface of the screw nut is visible, due to long contact with the back side of the sweatband. There are a few, very minor moth nibbles to the surface of the hat, however the hat remains quite sound, no tears, holes or stains.
